Although oxygen is essential for life, its reactivity with other compounds can
be detrimental. Free radicals are the result of some oxygen molecules that are converted into oxidizing agents during the
process that creates energy in cells, cellular respiration. Oxygen is a very active element, and in the process of exchanging
the molecules in the bloodstream, oxygen combines with many different compounds. Some of the compounds can cause damage to
body tissue.
These harmful compounds, "free radicals", can be caused in a number of ways,
such as ionized radiation from the sun, x-rays, and industry; nitrous oxide from automobile exhaust, cigarette smoke,
alcohol, saturated fat, and chemicals found in food, water, and air. Because of free radicals' instability, they react with
cells in the body causing abnormality. There are many free radical related health problems and conditions such as cancer,
aging, atherosclerosis, and over 60 identified others.
Antioxidants work in a variety of
ways to reduce the effects of free radicals. They can greatly decrease the damage caused by free radicals, stop them from
forming to begin with, or "oxidize" them by combining with them and neutralizing their harmful effects through
stabilization.
INGREDIENTS :
One hard gelatin capsule supplies 30 mg of Pycnogenol (a natural pine bark extract from Pinus
maritima imported from France) which contains a minimum of 95% proanthocyanidins, phenolics and flavonoids.
CONTAINS NO :
No Corn, soy, yeast, milk, or egg products. No added sugars, salt (sodium), preservatives or
tablet binders and coatings.
OTHER INGREDIENTS :
Potato Starch, Cellulose, Gelatin, Purified Water, Magnesium Stearate, MCT.
NOTES :
Well tolerated by most highly allergic individuals.
PYCNOGENOL MISSED DOSE & OVERDOSE :
Pycnogenol Missed Dose :
Take the missed dose as soon as you
remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and
take only the next regularly scheduled dose. Keep doses at least 12 hours apart.
Do not take a double dose of this supplement.
Pycnogenol Overdose :
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison
control center or emergency room.
PYCNOGENOL STORAGE :
Keep this and any supplement in a safe place where children
cannot reach it. It may be harmful to children. Do not remove tablets from the packaging
until you are ready to use them. Do not store the tablets in any other container. Store your
medicine away from heat and light. Do not store at temperatures above 86°F (30°C), or below
36°F (2°C).
