Valtrex Patient Information

Valtrex is a prescription pill approved by the FDA that gives you two treatment choices for managing genital herpes: "outbreak therapy" with 3-day dosing or "suppressive therapy" with once-a-day dosing. And it's the #1 prescribed herpes medication. Valtrex disrupts the process by which the herpes virus reproduces itself and spreads to other cells in the body. This helps to keep the virus inactive, or "sleeping". There is no generic substitute for Valtrex®.

VALTREX SIDE EFFECTS:

Nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of appetite, weakness, stomach pain or dizziness may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. VALTREX MISSED DOSE AND OVERDOSE

Valtrex Missed Dose :

Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Valtrex Overdose :

Caution should be exercised to prevent inadvertent Valtrex overdose. Precipitation of acyclovir in renal tubules may occur when the solubility (2.5 mg/mL) is exceeded in the intratubular fluid.
